Chocolate Doom has been designed according to a careful, minimalist philosophy that attempts to preserve the gameplay of the original DOS versions of the Doom games.
In some areas the behavior of Chocolate Doom differs from Vanilla Doom. A philosophy document is distributed with the source code that describes the design philosophy in more detail and gives examples of some of the situations in which this occurs.
